When there is stress experienced by the body the natural response to it by the body is known as anxiety. It generally refers to the fear of something that is going to happen. If this feeling of fear turns extreme or lasts for as long as 6 months and begins to affect the daily lifestyle of the person, then it means that a person is suffering from anxiety disorders.

The feeling of anxiousness may be normal about any new event. The anxiety may be an unpleasant feeling, but it definitely motivates a person to work much harder and to complete the assigned task in a much more efficient manner. This kind of anxiety is ordinary in its frequency as it comes and goes but does not affect a person’s daily life.

But when a person is suffering from anxiety disorder the fearful feelings may remain in a person for almost all the time. It turns debilitating in nature when such feelings become intense gradually.

This sort of anxiety may hinder the kind of lifestyle the person has been living. When the cases are very serious, it may stop a person from entering the elevator, going across the street, or it may even be troublesome to step outside one’s house. If this condition is not treated, the anxiety will worsen.

Anxiety disorders are very common forms of emotional disorders that can affect any person irrespective of the individual’s age.

According to the findings of the American Psychiatric Association, it has been observed that women are more prone to developing the disorder as compared to males.

The feeling of anxiousness differs and depends on the individual who is going through it. The feeling may make the person feel out of control as if the individual has a disconnection of the body and the mind.

An anxiety attack may feel like being overwhelmed with apprehension, fear, distress, or worry. In most people, the anxiety starts building up at a slow pace, which may get worse as the event comes closer.

The variation in the anxiety attack is vast and the associated symptoms may also differ from one individual to another. This difference is observed as most of the symptoms associated with the anxiety attack do not occur in all the cases and they can also change with the passage of time.

The exact cause behind the occurrence of anxiety in an individual is not ascertained till date. But it has been observed in most of the cases that the combination of various factors plays a significant role in triggering the disorder. The factors include environmental components as well as genetic elements along with the presence of chemical material.

Studies also suggest that the regions of the brain that are responsible for controlling the feeling of fear are also be affected by the disorder.

In recent times, researchers are interested in delving deeper in the parts of the human brain that are related to anxiety.
